Care navigator services around Australia.
Every Australian state with VAD has a Care Navigator Service — a free, confidential service to help people, families and clinicians understand and access the process. Phone numbers can change. Always check your state government's health department website for the current details.
Victoria
VAD has been operational in Victoria since 2019. The Statewide Care Navigator Service is run through the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Western Australia
VAD has been operational in WA since 2021. The Statewide Care Navigator Service is run through the WA Department of Health.

Tasmania
VAD has been operational in Tasmania since 2022. The Tasmanian VAD Commission and Care Navigator Service are accessible through Tasmanian Health.

Queensland
VAD has been operational in Queensland since 2023. The Queensland VAD Support Service is the central point of contact.

South Australia
VAD has been operational in SA since 2023. The SA Voluntary Assisted Dying Care Navigator Service is the central point of contact.

New South Wales
VAD has been operational in NSW since November 2023. The NSW VAD Care Navigator Service is run through NSW Health.

ACT
The ACT passed VAD legislation in 2024. The scheme is now operational. Check with ACT Health for current procedures and access.
Northern Territory
The NT regained the right to legislate on VAD in 2022. Check the NT Government health portal for current status. People in the NT who are seeking VAD may need to establish residency in another state if no NT scheme is yet available.
